 IN DIGITAL HUMANITIES

            [ACADEMIC YEAR 2023- 2024]

Thakur College of Science & Commerce in association with Department of Computer Science, University of Mumbai organized a workshop on RESEARCH METHODOLOGY IN DIGITAL HUMANITIES from 26th to 29th February 2024 from 9.30am to 2.30pm. The workshop was sponsored by Shastree Indo-Canadian Institute under SFCI project 2023-24. The resource person for the workshop was Professor Joseph DeSouza from York University. Dr. Ambuja Salgaonkar, Department of Computer Science, University of Mumbai Professor, acted as the moderator for the workshop. The workshop focused on "Computational analysis of Non-invasive Interventions". Dr. Joseph presented his work on the patients of Parkinson disease using EEG cap device. He shared his findings on the useful effect of dancing regime for management of the patients through activation of the neurons in the brains by music.

The participants of the workshop comprised of the learners and faculty from degree science and commerce, as well as from Thakur Engineering College. A total of 95 participants comprising of learners and faculties from multidiscipline participated in the workshop actively. Also, the workshop was made live on YouTube for other interested participants.

The workshop included oratory, demonstration sessions  as well as hands-on experiments on non-invasive research methodology for computational analysis of EEG. The resource person Dr. guided the participants about the usage of EEG cap in his experiments on the patients suffering from Parkinson disease and presented his findings on how dancing could contribute to delay of the disease progress. The participants of the workshop were taught to use the EEG cap device. Participant groups presented their ideas and proposed projects with the EEG cap device. Total 15 teams with three to four member each presented their ideas on various research projects which will be taken forward as a research outcome of this workshop.
