Student Council Events of academic year 2025-2026


The Academic year started with the formation of the Students’ Council. The academic topper of each department were inducted as the council members as per the Mumbai University norm. Nominees representing Sports, NSS, NCC, and Cultural were also included in the council. Lady Representatives were nominated by the Head of the Institution and became an integral part of the council. Students who were unwilling to associate with the council submitted their No Objection Certificate (NOC), after which the opportunity was offered to the second topper.

The formation of the council was followed by the election of the General Secretary, a significant event that laid the foundation for effective student leadership. Mr Dhruv Rawal was elected as the General Secretary for the year by the council members.

The election process was conducted in a democratic manner, with nominees presenting their vision and commitment to fostering student engagement and institutional growth thus ensuring a fair, transparent, and well-informed voting process.

With the council in place, a parallel student’s group was formed named TRIBE. Students who are not an academic topper but are interested to work for the council were given platform through TRIBE membership. TRIBE students were selected through an interview.  

The year progressed with a strong emphasis on leadership and active students participation. Throughout the year, the council organized impactful events, safeguarded students’ welfare, and fostered a vibrant academic as well as extracurricular environment.


1.CAKE AND COOKIES DAY

Date & day- 29th July 2025, Tuesday

Venue- outer quadrangle

The objective of the event was to encourage student participation and provide an opportunity for bakers, especially student bakers, to showcase their talent. It further aimed to encourage entrepreneurship, creativity, and foster a spirit of collaboration among the students. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, both as bakers and volunteers. A variety of cakes and cookies were displayed by student bakers, reflecting their culinary skills. A total of 6 stalls were set up, offering unique and diverse varieties of cakes and cookies.

2. YOUTH PARLIAMENT

Venue: Studio Room, Thakur College of Science and Commerce.

Date and time: 22nd August 2025, from 10:30 a.m.

The primary objective of the event was to foster political awareness, enhance debating and leadership skills, and promote the values of democracy among students. It is also aimed to provide students with an opportunity to simulate parliamentary proceedings and understand governance more effectively. In this mock parliamentary session, students debated contemporary issues.

The topics debated were:

AI: Ruining Creativity and Originality of Youth

Language: A Mode of Communication and Not Discrimination

Question–answer rounds and structured arguments highlighted the significance of discipline and order in democratic dialogue. Total of 65 students participated as members. The participants displayed strong research, analytical, and communication abilities while debating.

   

 


3. GUEST LECTURE ON MENTAL HEALTH

Date & Time: 4th September 2025, 9:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.

Venue: Seminar Hall, Thakur College of Science and Commerce

Resource Person: Dr. Suraj Singh (Consultant Psychiatrist, Counsellor, and De-addiction Specialist; MD – KEM Hospital, Mumbai)

The lecture aimed to spread awareness on the importance of mental health and well-being, encourage students to prioritize emotional wellness along with academics, and provide coping strategies for stress, anxiety, and peer-related challengesDr. Singh emphasized the role of mental health in academic success, relationships, and professional growth.

He highlighted that seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness. Practical self-care strategies such as mindfulness, physical activity, balanced lifestyles, and strong support systems were discussed. An engaging session followed, where Student Council members and faculty asked insightful questions on exam stress, peer pressure, competition, and social media influence. Dr. Singh shared practical coping techniques and motivational guidance tailored for studentsThe event saw enthusiastic participation of students across streams with a count of more than 160, along with faculty members, making the seminar hall vibrant and interactive.

   

   


4.TEACHERS DAY CELEBRATION

Venue-seminar Hall 1st floor, TCSC

Date and time- 5th September 2025, 12:30 to 1:00 pm

The objective of the Teacher’s Day celebration was to provide a dedicated platform for honoring the invaluable role of teachers in academic and personal development. The event sought to acknowledge teacher’s unwavering commitment, hard work, and contributions to the institution while fostering a sense of unity, respect, and appreciation for each other among the teaching fraternity. The celebration commenced with a warm welcome note, setting a tone of gratitude and respect for the teaching fraternity. The Principal addressed the gathering and shared insightful thoughts on the significance of the teaching profession and the collective role of educators in shaping the future. Members of the Student Council extended their heartfelt appreciation through a special message delivered on behalf of the student body, highlighting the inspiration and mentorship provided by the teachers. The event saw enthusiastic participation from teachers across streams, making the seminar hall vibrant and interactive.











                                                                                                    

  







                                                                                  




5. LIVEMINT 25-26

Date: 26th November, 2026

Time: 11:00 AM onwards

Venue: Presentation Room

The LiveMint Event was a successful and knowledge-enriching initiative that contributed to students’ academic and professional development. The objective of organizing the LiveMint Event was to enhance students’ awareness of current economic trends, financial literacy, business developments, and industry insights. The event aimed to bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world knowledge by exposing students to contemporary topics related to business, finance, and the economy.

 Students gained a better understanding of financial literacy, economic awareness, and contemporary business trends. The session enhanced their analytical thinking and encouraged them to stay informed about national and global news views and developments.


 

 

6. MR. AND MISS THAKUR 25-26

Date: 11th December, 2025; 

Time: 11 AM onwards

Venue: Auditorium

The Mr. and Miss Thakur competition was held on Thursday, 11th December 2025, at 11:00 AM onwards in the Auditorium, 7th Floor. The competition provides student with a platform to showcase their confidence, personality, talent, cultural awareness, and stage presence. The event aimed to encourage self-expression, leadership qualities, and overall personality development while promoting healthy competition among students. The competition is held in three rounds where students have to introduce themselves, show their talent and answer questions from judges. This year former Lady Representative Krisha Karkariya and Mr Suraj Mukherjee, a reputed Bollywood personality and a Production Head of many prominent films and web series on OTT was invited to judge the event.


   

     

 


7. CHRISTMAS FERVOUR

Date: Monday, 15th December, 2026

Time: 10:30 AM onwards

Venue: Quadrangle and Gangway

The Students' Council enthusiastically organized a festive celebration titled ‘Christmas Fervour’ on Tuesday, 15th December 2025, from 10:30 AM to 2:00 PM at the Inner Quadrangle. The event followed a vibrant red and white theme, beautifully capturing the joy and spirit of Christmas among students and faculty members. As part of the celebration, students demonstrated their entrepreneurial abilities by setting up various stalls offering an array of food items such as mocktails, chaat, sandwiches, nachos, cupcakes, cakes, cookies, and more. Adding to the excitement, the Students' Council members conducted engaging game stalls featuring activities like dart games and “Throw the Ring,” making the event lively and enjoyable for all.

 

 

 

 





8.   NETAJI JAYANTI

Date: Monday, 23rd January, 2026

Time: 10:30 AM onwards

Venue: Quadrangle and Gangway

Netaji Jayanti was observed on 23rd January 2025 through the organization of a quiz competition based on the life, contributions, and ideals of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. The quiz aimed to promote awareness about India’s freedom struggle and engage students in an interactive learning experience.

A total of 362 students actively participated in the quiz competition, reflecting enthusiastic involvement and keen interest among students. The activity was informative, engaging, and educational in nature.

The quiz competition enabled students to gain deeper insights into the life, ideology, and contributions of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. It enhanced their historical knowledge, general awareness, and sense of patriotism. The activity also promoted critical thinking, healthy competition, and active participation in value-based educational initiatives.

 

 


9. YOUTH PARLIAMENT – II

Date: Monday, 4th February, 2026

Time: 10:30 AM onwards

Venue: Quadrangle and Gangway

Youth Parliament – II is an Inter college event where students of other college participate to debate and deliberate on the matter concerning youth. This year it  was successfully conducted on Wednesday, 4th February from 10:30 AM onwards in the Auditorium on the 7th Floor. This Intercollegiate Youth Parliament Event was conducted with enthusiastic participation from students representing various colleges ( M L Dahanukar; MKES College of Law; MET Institute of PGDM; Thakur Ram Narayan College of Law). The event provided a platform for young minds to engage in meaningful debates and discussions simulating a parliamentary environment. The discussions were centered around two significant topics: “Does voting really matter?” and “Does social media use humans or do humans use social media?” Participants presented well-researched arguments, shared diverse perspectives, and engaged in constructive debates highlighting social awareness and democratic engagement. The event promoted intellectual exchange, respectful dialogue, and analytical discussions, creating an engaging and thought-provoking atmosphere throughout the session. A total of 74 participants actively contributed, each presenting unique perspectives and well-researched arguments.

The session was presided over by Speaker Ms Shruti Singh, who skilfully moderated the proceedings and ensured smooth and disciplined deliberations.

The event was evaluated by distinguished academicians:

Dr. Urmiladevi Chauhan, Assistant Professor, Thakur Ramnarayan College of Law.

And Social worker and Activist Mr Piyush Suraiya.

10. TRADITIONAL DAY 

Date: Monday, 6th February, 2026

Time: 10:30 AM onwards

Venue: Quadrangle and Gangway

The objective of celebrating Traditional Day was to honor and showcase the rich cultural heritage, diverse traditions, and vibrant identities of our country. The event aimed to promote unity in diversity, encourage students to embrace their roots, and foster respect for different cultures through traditional attire and cultural expressions. This was celebrated on 6th February 2026 with great enthusiasm and active participation from students and staff members. The event provided a platform for the college community to express cultural pride by dressing in traditional attire representing various regions and communities. The event created a vibrant and joyful atmosphere, strengthening bonds within the campus community while celebrating cultural diversity.

 

    


11. BEING GENEROUS

Date: Monday, 20th and 21st February, 2026

Time: 10:30 AM onwards

Venue: Quadrangle

The Students' Council of Thakur College of Science and Commerce organized a Donation Drive, titled "Being Generous", on 20th and 21st February, 2026. The initiative aimed to support underprivileged children by collecting essential items and receiving generous donation from the students. The proceeds of the donation were given to TOUCH Foundation, an NGO working with the underprivileged children and women. Students and faculty actively participated by donating pens, pencils, books, rice, sugar, clothes, and other necessary supplies. The overwhelming response from the college community showcased the spirit of kindness and generosity. The event not only provided valuable resources to the children but also instilled a sense of social responsibility and empathy among the participants. Total money of Rs13404 was collected along with groceries and stationeries in the drive.

   

 



12. BEST BOY AND BEST GIRL

The Academic session ended by selecting Best Boy and Best Girl of the year. A rigorous process by a panel of judges selected externally finally led to the selection. Each department are asked to send the name of the best boy and girl students of the department. These students in turn are asked to submit their file containing certificates as a proof of their achievements in different field. Finally they were called for an interview on 27th March, 2026. Following members formed the panel for conducting interview:

  2. Dr Purvi Lakkad (Vice Principal Thakur College of Architecture)

  3. Dr Lipi Mukherjee  (Vice Principal, Ghanshyamdas Saraf College)

After a rigorous interview Sonali Giri from BSc IT and Sahil Lamkoti from BAF were selected as Best Girl and Best Boy for the year.
