  1. Event : Visit to India Meri time Week 2025 Date and Venue :

The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Government of India was organized the „India Maritime Week (IMW) 2025 from 27-31st October 2025 at the NESCO Exhibition Centre, Mumbai, India‟.

Details of the Activity:

The session was inaugurated by Amit Shah, Minister of Home Affairs, who was joined by Chief Minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis, Chief Minister of Gujarat Bhupendra Patel, Chief Minister of Goa Dr. Pramod Sawant and Chief Minister of Odisha Mohan Charan Majhi. Department of Physics along with total 20 students of FY, SY and TY B.Sc. class and 01 staff members participated in the event on 30th October 2025.



Out come : This landmark event was stranded as a defining moment in the global maritime landscape reflecting India‟s commitment to fostering international collaboration and advancing maritime excellence. The holistic approach of the event was aimed to promote inclusive growth and sustainable maritime development, fostering strategic partnerships for shared prosperity. The event is poised to be the largest maritime gathering globally, bringing together key stakeholders from across the maritime ecosystem

  1. Event : Field Visit to Thakur Aviation College for Drone Technology

Details of the Activity:

The Department of Physics, Thakur College of Science and Commerce, organized an educational field visit to Thakur Aviation Center, Kandivali, on 23rd September 2025 at 11:30 a.m. The objective of the visit was to provide students with practical exposure to the growing field of aviation and drone technology.


During the visit, students explored the Drone Laboratory, where they received detailed explanations about the different types of drones, their designs, working mechanisms, and operational principles. The experts at the Aviation Center elaborated on the origin and evolution of drone technology, and its diverse applications in fields such as defense, agriculture, environmental monitoring, logistics, and aerial photography.


Students also gained insight into flight control systems, navigation methods, and safety protocols followed during drone operations. The interactive session helped bridge the gap between theoretical learning and real-world applications, encouraging curiosity and innovation among the students.


Outcome:

The field visit proved to be a highly informative and enriching experience. It enhanced students‟ understanding of modern technological advancements in aviation and unmanned aerial systems. The activity successfully linked classroom knowledge with practical exposure, inspiring students to explore careers and research opportunities in the field of drone technology and applied physics.

Details of the Activity:

The Department of Physics, Thakur College of Science and Commerce, organized a guest lecture on “Drone Technology and Its Applications” on 9th September 2025 at 10:30 a.m. in the Seminar Hall.

The session was delivered by Mr. Pranesh Debnath, a distinguished scientist from ISRO.


During the lecture, Mr. Debnath explained the basic working mechanism of drones, including the principles of flight and control systems. He also elaborated on the wide-ranging applications of drone technology in fields such as defense, agriculture, disaster management, and aerial mapping. Furthermore, he guided students on the process of obtaining a certified drone operator license from the DGCA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation).


S.Y. and T.Y. B.Sc. Physics students attended the session with keen interest and participated actively in the interactive discussion that followed.


Outcome:

The lecture provided valuable insights into the emerging field of drone technology and its real-world significance. Students gained practical knowledge about drone operations and career opportunities in this rapidly advancing area of science and technology.





  1. Event: Celebration of National Space Day – “Know Your Space” Date:23rd August 2025

Details of the Activity:

The Department of Physics, Thakur College of Science and Commerce, celebrated National Space Day on 23rd August 2025 under the theme “Know Your Space.” The event aimed to enhance students‟ interest and knowledge about space science and astronomy.


As part of the celebration, engaging activities such as a Treasure Hunt and an Online Quiz Competition on space-related topics were organized. These activities encouraged students to think critically and creatively while learning fascinating facts about the universe.


Additionally, the science-fiction film “Interstellar” was screened for students on the 7th floor, offering them a captivating visual experience of space exploration and scientific imagination.


Outcome:

The celebration successfully created awareness and enthusiasm among students about space science. It promoted scientific curiosity, teamwork, and learning beyond textbooks. The active participation of F.Y., S.Y., and T.Y. Physics students made the event both educational and enjoyable.

Details of the Activity:

A guest lecture on “Semiconductor to Nanotechnology” was organized by the Department of Physics on 11th August 2025 at 11:00 a.m. The session was delivered by Mr. Arvind Singh, Assistant Professor from Khalsa College.


During the lecture, the speaker explained the basic principles of semiconductors, the journey from semiconductor devices to nanotechnology, and the applications of nanotechnology in various fields such as electronics, medicine, and renewable energy.


F.Y., S.Y., and T.Y. B.Sc. Physics students attended the lecture with great enthusiasm and actively participated in the discussion session. The talk helped them gain valuable insights into the rapidly evolving domain of nanoscience and its real-world relevance.

Outcome:

The lecture enriched students‟ understanding of modern technological advancements and motivated them to explore research opportunities in the field of nanotechnology.




  1. Event: World Tobacco Day Date:26th June 2025

Details of the Activity:

On the occasion of World Tobacco Day, an awareness session was conducted in the Physics Classroom (Room No. 604) during the 2nd lecture. The students of T.Y.B.Sc. actively participated in the session.

The discussion focused on the health hazards caused by tobacco consumption and the importance of maintaining a tobacco-free lifestyle. At the end of the session, all students took an oath to stay away from tobacco and promote a healthy life.


Outcome:

The activity successfully raised awareness among students about the ill effects of tobacco and encouraged them to adopt a healthier lifestyle.

  1. OUTREACH PROGRAM:

Visit to Tata Institute of Fundamental Reseach (TIFR), Colaba, Mumbai Date and Venue: 28th Feb 2026, TIFR


Tata Institute of Fundamental Reseach(TIFR), Colaba, Mumbai invites students and faculties to celebrate national science day on 26 February 2026.


Details of the Activity:

On the occasion of National Science Day, an outreach program was organized at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), Mumbai, on 26 February 2026.Department of Physics celebrated national Science Day on 28th Feb 2026 by visiting to TIFR Colaba, Mumbai. A group of 25 students from our F.Y.B.Sc. and T.Y.B.Sc. Attended the program to gain exposure to advanced scientific research and interact with scientists.

During the outreach program, students participated in several engaging activities including as Popular science lectures delivered by scientists from TIFR, Demonstrations of scientific experiments and research instruments. Lab visits and Interactive sessions where students could ask questions about scientific careers and research.


  1. IUCAA VISIT

Date:- 03/12/2025

Venue:- The Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA) , Pune

Description:-The visit to Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA) was an informative and engaging experience.

We explored interactive models and exhibits related to astronomy and space science. The visit helped in understanding complex concepts beyond classroom learning.

It also increased my interest in research and astrophysics.





Outcome:

The visit improved my understanding of astronomy and astrophysics concepts through practical exposure and interactive learning. It enhanced my curiosity about space science and motivated me to explore research opportunities in this field.

Conclusion:

Overall, the visit to Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA) was a valuable learning experience that combined education with real-world scientific applications. It was informative, inspiring, and beneficial for my academic growth.



  1. ORIGIN

Date: - 13/02/2026 Venue: - Thakur college of science and commerce

Description:- The science exhibition “Origin” participated by the Physics Department showcased creative physics models and experiments. It helped in understanding concepts through practical demonstrations and encouraged scientific thinking among students.

  1. CHEMTASTIC

Description:- The event “Chemtastic” conducted by the Chemistry Department was an engaging and educational program featuring various chemistry experiments, models, and activities. It provided students with practical exposure to chemical concepts and encouraged scientific curiosity through interactive learning.

Outcome:

The event enhanced scientific awareness and understanding of chemistry concepts through practical demonstrations and interactive activities. It encouraged student participation, creativity, and interest in experimental learning.

Conclusion:

Overall, Chemtastic was a successful and informative event that promoted experiential learning and appreciation for chemistry. It helped bridge theoretical knowledge with practical application, benefiting all participants.



  1. IAPT- Winter School (Ratnagiri)

Outcomes:-

The winter school provided in-depth knowledge of optics and modern physics through expert lectures, demonstrations, and interactive sessions. It enhanced conceptual understanding, analytical thinking, and awareness of recent developments in physics among participants.

Conclusion:

Overall, the Winter School organized by R. E. Society‟s R. P. Gogate College of Arts & Science and R. V. Jogalekar College of Commerce was a highly informative and enriching experience. It promoted academic interest, practical learning, and encouraged students to explore advanced topics in physics beyond the regular curriculum.



  1. National Integration Competition

Date:- 13/08/2025 Venue :- Thakur college of science and commerce

Description:-

A National Integration Competition titled “To Know Your Country” was conducted by BMF, where participants were assigned different Indian states to represent through PowerPoint presentations. Students from the Physics Department actively participated by presenting information about culture, traditions, geography, and important features of their assigned states. The event promoted awareness about the diversity and unity of India.




Outcome:

The competition enhanced students‟ knowledge about different states of India and strengthened research, presentation, and communication skills. It also encouraged teamwork and cultural appreciation among participants.

Conclusion:

Overall, the event was informative and engaging, promoting national integration and awareness of India‟s rich diversity. It provided a valuable platform for students to learn beyond academics and develop confidence in public speaking and presentation.

Ideathon was an event where students presented their innovative entrepreneurial ideas through PowerPoint presentations. The participants explained their business concepts, implementation strategies, and potential impact, encouraging creativity and problem-solving skills related to entrepreneurship.

Outcome:

The event enhanced students‟ innovative thinking, presentation skills, and understanding of entrepreneurship. It also encouraged confidence, teamwork, and the ability to convert ideas into practical solutions.

Conclusion:

Overall, Ideathon was an inspiring and informative event that motivated students to think creatively and explore entrepreneurial opportunities. It provided a valuable platform to showcase ideas and develop essential professional skills.

The Department of Physics, Thakur College of Science and Commerce, organized a guest lecture on “Cosmic Insight” on 28th November 2025 at 11:30 a.m. in the Seminar Hall. The session was delivered by, Prof Mahesh Shetty a distinguished teacher from IAPT.


During the lecture, Prof Mahesh Shetty explained the cosmic insight that evokes images of vast galaxies, swirling nebulas, and the profound mysteries of existence.


FY, S.Y. and T.Y. B.Sc. Physics students attended the session with keen interest and participated actively in the interactive discussion that followed.


Outcome:
